Lakshmi Shenoy

Lakshmi Shenoy will be honored with the Indo-US Chamber Businesswoman of the Year award at this year’s Banyan Ball on April 16, 2022, being held at the Grand Hyatt in Tampa.

Lakshmi is the CEO of Embarc Collective, Florida’s fastest-growing startup hub. In just over two years, she has redefined what startup support looks like. Embarc Collective now supports over 120 startups from across the state of Florida with its individualized coaching and curated programming at its 32,000 square-foot physical hub in downtown Tampa.

Before moving to Tampa Bay, Lakshmi served as the Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at 1871 in Chicago, the #1 university-affiliated business incubator in the world. Prior to 1871, Lakshmi focused on growth strategies for a variety of businesses through her work at Prophet Brand Strategy, Time Inc., Procter & Gamble, and Leo Burnett. 

While working at 1871, Lakshmi helped to grow the organization, both physically and programmatically.  She helped launch 1871’s WiSTEM program, a 12-week curriculum that supports tech women founders. The program helped give women access to capital, customers and technology talent. Today, she makes time to serve as both an advisor and investor in several women-led startups from around the country. 

Lakshmi has a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of Chicago and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Lakshmi was recognized as one of 20 Rising Brand Stars by AdAge in 2017 and a BusinessWoman of the Year Honoree by the Tampa Bay Business Journal in 2022.

Dhvanit Patel

Dhvanit Patel will be honored with the Indo-US Chamber Businessman of the Year award at this year’s Banyan Ball on April 16, 2022, being held at the Grand Hyatt in Tampa.

Dhvanit is the President/CEO of Onicx. With over 20 years of experience in real estate development and construction, Dhvanit is responsible for the vision and growth of Onicx. He directs the company’s strategies, identifies new business opportunities, and assists the executive team with structuring of financial solutions tailored to each individual project. Onicx currently owns and operates over 400,000 SF of class A medical office space. Additionally,  over 1,300 apartment units, 800,000 square feet of industrial space and 350,000 square feet of class A medical office space is currently under development. Onicx Group’s current total development pipeline is valued at $980MM. 

Dhvanit earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction from the University of Florida School of Architecture, College of Building Construction. He lives in Tampa, Florida with his wife Saloni and two children, Dhillon (17) and Sareena (14).  

Dhvanit, his family and his company have made deep commitments to various charitable organizations in and around the Tampa Bay Area.

Shilen Patel

Shilen Patel will be honored with the Indo-US Chamber Community Service Leader award at this year’s Banyan Ball on April 16, 2022, being held at the Grand Hyatt in Tampa.

Shilen is the CEO and Owner of HealthAxis, a national provider of Healthcare IT, Analytics, and Tech-Enabled Services that recently announced a substantial growth equity investment from Revelstoke Capital Partners, a $4 billion private equity firm. Prior to HealthAxis, Mr. Patel was a top executive and owner of Visionary Healthware, leading 30x growth and gaining recognition as one of America’s 100 largest Healthcare IT companies before being acquired by an international public company in 2010.

Shilen is an active early stage and private equity investor, as well as founder of multiple other enterprises. His investments range from small local startups to more visible and remote assets such as ownership in Bologna FC, a soccer team competing with the likes of Juventus and AC Milan in Italy’s Serie A.

In early 2021, he was appointed to the USF Board of Trustees. In 2017, Mr. Patel became a co-founder and Chairman of the TiE Tampa Bay Angel Fund, a $3 million fund established to financially support Florida startups, improve understanding and awareness of angel investing among Tampa Bay investors, and help startups fulfill their potential as value drivers and community assets. He chairs the Community Enrichment Lab, a non-profit focused on supporting the Uptown Tampa community. During the pandemic, their “We Nourish” program served 40,000 meals to people in need while also helping save dozens of local restaurants and support hundreds of restaurant workers suffering through lockdown and indoor dining restrictions.  Additionally, He is a founding Director of Central Bank, a community bank which services Tampa, St. Augustine, and Winter Park. 

In 2013, Mr. Patel graduated from the EMBA-Global programme at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and the London Business School with an MBA from both institutions. He received his undergraduate degree in business with a concentration in entrepreneurship at Babson College in 2002.

Dilip Kanji

Dilip is the Founder & CEO of Impact Properties. 

Founded in 1981, Impact Properties has built an extensive track record spanning over 40 years in Florida real estate development specializing in development of hotels, restaurants and medical offices and the company has invested over $300 million in its property acquisitions and development activity. Many of these projects have earned national recognition for their achievements in design, construction, and day-to-day operations. Some of which include the Westin Tampa Bay, Marriott Residence Inn Gaslamp San Diego, Marriott Springhill Suites Tampa, Hyatt Place Wesley Chapel Hotel & Conference Center, Castillo Real Hotel St. Augustine Beach, and the Hilton Garden Inn Ybor City and Cypress Ridge Professional Center. 

Over the past 5 years Impact has embarked on a program to diversify its portfolio by making strategic investments in industries with relatively inelastic consumer demand profiles and recession proof businesses. In September 2015 Impact acquired 40 company owned Rent A Center locations spread across 8 states in the Southeast and recently became the largest franchisee in the Rent a Center system – owning 75 Rent A Center locations in the southeast of US.

Impact Home Services is a newly established venture partnering with Neighborly Brands, the world’s largest home services franchisor of 28 service brands with more than 4,500+ franchise owners serving 10 million+ customers in nine countries based out of Waco, TX. In June 2021 Impact acquired one of the top home service operators under the brands of Mr. Rooter Plumbing and Mr. Electric in the Atlanta metro market.

As part of its continued diversification of the company Impact is now focusing on being actively involved in strategic residential developments and investments. In July 2020 the company purchased 20 acres of land in fast growing Hernanado County for the development of 200 Townhouses. The project is currently in planning and permitting stage with a projected start date of late 2022
